Reasons For Boat Training

Good things come in three's - find out why.

The NSW Maritime Authority and the NSW Boating College remind all recreational boaties that it is the experience gained in a variety of conditions that will develop skill, competence, awareness and confidence on the water.

NSW Maritime Boat Licence Test was made more difficult in October 2005 and it is fair to say that the failure rate has increased for applicants attending a boat licence test without proper preparation.

Dangers at sea More & more people are being attracted to the water where more and more recreational boats are appearing of all shapes and sizes. Too many people are oblivious to the 'dangers at sea', drawn by the romance of the clear blue waters, white sands and long sunny days on the NSW Coast and Inland Waters. Boating offers a means of relaxation from otherwise busy and hectic lifestyles.

Students training

Protect your assets Water Sports including Fishing, Diving, Sailing, Skiing, Kayaking and Cruising are increasingly involving a major expense in terms of assets and equipment. A medium size family run about can be worth the price of a motor car these days and go as fast!

Family Safety We encourage all people new to the boating industry to come along as a family and experience the basic training. Over the last 5 years more people are opting for training through a Registered Training Organisation to ensure that they have the basics in place for the safety of family and friends on the water.

The cost of the training in comparison to the lives and assets involved is really a small price to pay for achieving a minimum level of competence.

New Boaties It is important to gain valid training on entering boating activity. Many people choose to do the training as a preparation, even before purchasing a boat and or safety equipment.

Training offered by the NSW Boating College
is performed by experienced NSW Maritime qualified commercial skippers with workplace trainer and assessor certificate level IV qualifications.

Students are fully insured in the classroom venues.

The College continues to work together with the authorities, NSW Maritime, AMSA, NMSC, BIA, BOA, Service Skills Australia to improve safety on the water.

College Trainers are encouraged to have an active role in Volunteer Marine Rescue Organisations.

Our aim is to offer value for money and continually update our training to maintain our role as leaders in training in the recreational boating industry.
