Women Onboard - boat licence and practical
Traditionally women have been taught to drive cars and boats by a husband, partner or father, which can be a stressful and aggravating experience for all involved. This course, Women Onboard aims to provide a comfortable and stress-free environment in which women can learn boating skills in a manner designed specifically for them.
Run on the last Thursday of the month, the course consists of a full day of nautical learning in a small intimate group.
The morning is devoted to an in-class session on maritime rules and regulations, boating proficiency, safe boating practices and it incorporates the NSW boat licence test. After a break we get into practical learning on the water. By the time participants leave, they will have experienced skippering,docking and manouvering as well as having obtained a boat licence.
Onboard your boat
We recognise that many female boaters may already have their boat licence. To accommodate these women we offer private tuition tailered to meet individual needs - on your own boat. With a maximum of four women per session for minimum of three hours this an opportunity to break out and take control of your boat on the water.
Women Onboard aims to build confidence, skill and a sense of achievement that comes from being able to finally pull the boat effortlessly up to the dock, pick up the mooring, or back a trailer gracefully down the ramp. It doesn’t hurt to see the jaws drop among the on-lookers as a woman reveals herself to be the one in the driver’s seat.
The more women who are empowered to take the boat out themselves, or to take the kids out water-skiing, or who feel confident that in an emergency, they can get home safely, the more accessible the world of boating becomes. To find out more call us on 1300 723 112.
