Learn PWC techniques and skills from experienced trainers
Riding a PWC (jetski) is an exciting way to enjoy the water. But, it can easily become dangerous if not approached correctly. Learning how to ride your PWC safely and responsibly is the key to making the experience safe and enjoyable for all involved. It is important to remember there are rules, techniques and skills you should learn and develop first.
Duration

1.30 hours practical instruction on your PWC or the College operated PWC.

What you will learn
  • On-water reinforcement of the PWC rules and regulations
  • Launch/retreival
  • Pre-start checks
  • Boarding and reboarding PWCTestimonial
  • Balance and position
  • Bringing PWC onto plane
  • Turning and emergency stopping
  • Falling off
  • Identifying navigation aids and hazards
Pre-requisites
To have obtained a General Adult or Young Adult Boat or PWC Licence.
Costs
  • On your own PWC $125 per student (six students per session)
  • On the College operated PWC $218.00 (six students per session)

PWC practical is operated with six students per published session. Conditions may apply.

What to bring
  • An approved lifejacket Type 1, 2 or 3
  • Wet suit or swim wear
  • Goggles or sunglassess
  • Wear appropriate shoes for water sports
  • Hat wear (optional) - choose a hat or visor which will remain secured
Training and assessment

The practical session is derived from training competencies of the SIS10 Sport, Fitness and Recreation Industry Training Package. The unit of competency is: PWC SISOPWC202A - Demonstrate basic skills to ride a PWC in controlled conditions

Outcome

On successful completion of the PWC practical session students will receive a Certificate of Course Completion.

More advanced training to further develop skills and knowledge in rescue and offshore riding is available through College partner, Excite Safety Training.
