BOAT LICENCE COURSE - Theory only
Commencing 1 June 2009 it became a requirement for NSW General Boat Licence applicants to undergo practical on water training with either a Recognised Training Provider, such as the NSW Boating College, or by keeping log book entries from training with an experienced Skipper.
Course includes:
- 4 hours of face-to-face training
- Comprehensive college notes
- Interactive format
- Qualified experienced commercial skipper trainers
- NSW Maritime Boat Licence Test
The NSW Maritime Practical Logbook is required to record logbook entries of on-water experience by an experienced Skipper. An experienced Skipper is one who has held a boat licence for at least three years.

On successful completion of the seminar and boat licence test students will receive a Satisfactory Course Completion Certificate to present to NSW Maritime.
Evidence of complying with practical boating experience requirements must be provided before NSW Maritime will issue a boat licence. You can opt to complete the practical experience requirements with the College. Refer to boat licence full day and practical only course options.
As a Registered Training Organisation the College is required to comply with national training standards and provide a high standard of training in order to achieve accreditation with NSW Maritime and NSW VETAB.
All training is to industry and NMSC guidelines within the Outdoor Recreation IndustryCertificate II in Outdoor Recreation

Students who have special needs such as significant problems with understanding, reading or writing English are advised to contact a local NSW Maritime centre, where interpretative services can be made available.
